Welcome to Paul Tobin's Official Website
Hello Folks,
Welcome to Paul Tobin's web site and CD. Paul recorded his new record in February, 2009, in Nanaimo B.C. with producer Gary Wik, and engineer "extraordinaire" Rick Salt.
His songs are about his life, his tributes and memories. The sound is crisp and clean, the vocals heartfelt and poignant. He also includes a very original version of "Walk the Line" by Johnny Cash, and a tribute version of "World in Motion" by Brian Plummer.
Thank you for stopping by.
A Brief Philosophy:
"Just the fact that so much emotion can be evoked from such a simple arrangement. I mean, you can't really fake that, can you? If you try to fake it you're immediately exposed. I've heard great performances on out of tune, cheap-ass guitars that really blew me away, and I thought, 'Wow, that made the hair on my neck stand up!' I've also heard music played by bands with about fifty thousand dollars worth of guitars and amplifiers on the stage and thought, 'What time is it?' So, my point is, you can't buy the music, you can't rent it, you can't own it. [All you can do is] borrow from it, and if you treat it with a healthy dose of respect, it really comes across to your audience and they in turn will respect your performance. And if you're lucky, they'll respect you as an artist who's carrying the torch that is music."
